NC Demos Blog Hop Celebrate You Thinlit Dies

For this month’s NC Demos Blog Hop, we were asked to use our favorite retiring item(s).  Well, for me, its our awesome In-Color, Lemon Lime Twist and the Celebrate You Thinlit Dies.

I made this card for a very special Community College graduate!  We are so proud of him!  After I gave him his card, he asked if I had made it.  I told him yes, I make all the cards I give them.  He then told me, that is so neat and that he has kept all the cards I have made for him.  That was one of the sweetest things I have ever heard, and from a young man, too.  That just goes to show how much more a handmade card means to someone than something bought in a store so don’t discount giving one.

Isn’t he so handsome!

This card uses several products, and all are using only THREE colors!!  Lemon Lime Twist, Whisper White, and Basic Black… WOW!  I’m so going to miss this color combination!

Celebrate You Graduation

To make this card, I used a Lemon Lime Twist card base, and put my washi down on the folding edge.  Then I pushed my Gingham Gala DSP all the way to the far right edge so it wouldn’t cover up my washi and glued it down.

For the background of the card, I cut the “Celebrate” sentiment out 5 times using my Celebrate You thinlits and die cutting machine.  I “painted” each piece with my Wink of Stella to really make them pop (yes, guys like glitter too!).  Then I took each piece and cut it at a different point in the word so it would split it in two.  After that, I took the ending part of the word and used my liquid glue to attach it down at the left edge.  Then I glued the first part of the word at the right edge.  TIP:  Start at the bottom of your card with laying down the words.  The other rows will line up much easier and more even that way.

After I got my main background done, I moved on to my sentiments.  I cut the “YOU” out in black cardstock with Celebrate You dies. And I cut a piece of Gingham DSP.  I used my banner punch to “flag” the end of it and popped it up on Dimensionals.

For the Happy Graduation, I took some narrow strips of Black cardstock scraps and heat embossed the words using my Well Said Stamp Set.  Then I used my snips to cut them down and popped them each up on dimensionals as well.

Don’t the main sentiments on this card just pop?!  I think they are just Stampin Awesome!  All of the Lemon Lime Twist products on this card, AND the Celebrate You thinlit dies will no longer be available as of June 3rd, so if you want these items, you better get them before they are gone forever!

Love your card, Trish. And it’s one of my favorite color combinations too. Isn’t it great when the card recipient really appreciates your work? I know it gives me the warm fuzzies when someone tells me they keep all my cards too 🙂

Yes! And for a 19 year old to share that made it mean so much more.
